INTRODUCING THE DAMASCUS NAWAME NICKEL 10A OAK WOOD HANDLE SERIES

As a high-performance artistic knife series carefully selected and overseen by Fukui Co., Ltd., this design stands as a statement of harmony between masterful forging craftsmanship and modern aesthetic sensibilities.

"Nawame" Nickel Pattern

"Nawame" (縄目) translates to "rope pattern" in Japanese. Unlike conventional Damascus wave patterns or Tsuchime hammered finishes, alternating layers of stainless steel and bright Nickel are meticulously stacked and forged at precise angles by skilled artisans.

Following the processes of fine grinding and acid etching, the inert Nickel layers emerge with a brilliant, mirror-like luster that contrasts dramatically against the subdued tones of the surrounding steel. The blade reveals flowing, diagonal patterns that are deep, vivid, and tightly intertwined like braided rope, creating a mesmerizing three-dimensional visual effect from the very first glance.

10A (AUS-10) Steel Core

Beneath the magnificent Nawame pattern lies a renowned 10A (AUS-10) steel core produced by Aichi Steel. This premium stainless steel successfully addresses many of the common limitations associated with VG-10:

  • Optimized Hardness (59–61 HRC): Enables the blade to maintain excellent edge retention even under prolonged and intensive use.
  • Exceptional Toughness and Chip Resistance: The fine grain structure of 10A steel gives the blade impressive resilience, minimizing brittleness and significantly reducing the risk of micro-chipping during fast-paced cutting tasks.
  • Easy to Resharpen: 10A steel is highly responsive to whetstones, allowing users to restore the knife's original sharpness effortlessly with just a few light passes on a fine-grit stone.

Oak Wood Handle (Oak Wood)

The traditional Wa-style handle crafted from light-colored oak offers an appearance that is both elegant and understated. Oak provides excellent durability, moisture resistance, and a secure grip. Its lightweight nature shifts the balance point gently forward, transforming the blade into a natural extension of the user's arm and allowing for fatigue-free cutting throughout the day.

The Damascus Nawame Nickel 10A series is not merely an outstanding cutting tool that offers worry-free resistance against corrosion—it is also a luxurious piece of artistry for the kitchen. Every cut becomes a pleasure, and every time the knife is drawn, it serves as a reminder of Fukui Co., Ltd.'s refined aesthetic philosophy. It is a masterpiece worthy of a place in the collection of true knife enthusiasts.
