The Mizuno Axe is a premium handcrafted tool forged by Mizuno Seisakusho, a renowned blacksmith workshop located in Sanjo, Niigata - a region celebrated for Japan’s traditional blade-making heritage.

The history of Mizuno Seisakusho dates back to 1937 (Shōwa 12), when founder Yoshio Mizuno began his craft by producing replacement blades for wooden hand planes. In the 1950s, with the rise of electric tools, the workshop shifted its focus to forging axes and hammers, gradually establishing a strong reputation in this specialized field.

Over generations, Mizuno Seisakusho has continuously refined its forging techniques, inheriting the craftsmanship of Japan’s finest artisans. In 2012 (Heisei 24), Isao Mizuno, the second-generation successor, was officially recognized as a National Certified Traditional Craftsman. By 2021 (Reiwa 3), the workshop evolved into Mizuno Seisakusho Co., Ltd., solidifying its commitment to preserving and advancing the traditional Japanese blacksmithing heritage.
